How to choose a base station antenna?

Base station antenna, as the foundation of wireless communication, is to realize the information energy conversion between the base station equipment and the end user, so that people can communicate through cell phones, TVs and other devices.

Base stations and base station antennas can be found everywhere, and the selection of base station antennas varies in different application scenarios such as urban areas, dense urban areas, suburban areas, rural areas, and transportation arteries.

First, the urban area base station antenna
1. In order to reduce interference, the antenna with a horizontal half-power angle close to 60 degrees should be selected.
2. urban base station generally does not require wide coverage, but pay more attention to the depth of coverage.
3. Due to the urban base station antenna installation space is often limited, so the choice of dual-polarized antenna is more practical.

Second, dense urban base station antenna
Dense urban base station selection of electronic tilt horizontal half-power angle of about 60 degrees of medium gain dual-polarized antenna is more appropriate.

Third, rural areas base station antenna.
1. For CDMA network, select the antenna with larger horizontal half-power angle. For example, the horizontal half power angle of 90 degrees of the antenna.
2. For GSM network, the plains area using a larger horizontal half-power angle of the antenna effect is better; mountainous and hilly areas using a smaller horizontal half-power angle of the antenna is easy to control the coverage direction and range.
3. In order to ensure the coverage radius, high gain antenna should be selected.
4. In the case of installation conditions, it should use unipolarized antenna as far as possible.
5. If there is no obvious obstruction in all directions around the base station, the voice demand is small, and the expected coverage is small, you can choose omnidirectional antenna.

Fourth, suburban base station antenna
The situation in the suburbs is between urban areas and rural areas. For the base station with large station distance, it can refer to the selection principle of rural base station antenna; on the contrary, it can refer to the selection principle of urban base station antenna.

Five traffic trunk line base station antenna
1. The radiating azimuthal pattern of zigzag antenna matches better with the shape of the area to be covered by the traffic trunk line;
2. the figure-of-eight antenna is actually a deformation of the omnidirectional antenna, so there is no need to use the power divider;
3. the use of one antenna instead of two sector antennas is less costly.
